1. Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
As part of the Regulatory Compliance track, this pre-conference workshop will engage participants through performing IDDE investigation techniques in a Choose Your Own Adventure activity. How do you track IDDE back to the source? What are effective and innovative sleuthing methods? What are you looking for? What technology is available to assist with screening and investigations? Participants are encouraged to bring pictures of problems found in their jurisdictions. The pre-conference workshop will have speakers discussing innovative techniques, an interactive activity, sharing time (example problems, lessons learned), and Q&A with CWP staff and an expert panel. Participants will go home with new tools for detection and elimination.

2. The Lifecycle of a BMP
This pre-conference workshop will educate participants in the life cycle of a stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) through conceptual planning, design, construction, inspection and maintenance. The workshop will address questions like: What’s new in stormwater BMP design? What old ideas do we need to hold onto? Does what vegetation you design in a BMP really matter? is BMP maintenance necessary? How do you consider maintenance when designing BMPs? What is a plan reviewer looking for? What should you look for during a BMP inspection and why does it matter? The pre-conference workshop will have speakers that will work through interactive design challenges including common design and programmatic problems that impact the effectiveness of BMPs. Participants will go home with tools to assist with design and inspection techniques.
