Dear CWP members, friends, followers, and family:
With our responsibility to minimize the spread of COVID-19, and after extensive deliberation and careful consideration, the Center for Watershed Protection has made the decision to change the format of the 2020 National Watershed and Stormwater Conference scheduled for April 14-17, 2020.
With the recent prohibition of gatherings of 250+ in Austin and the declaration of a national emergency by the President, we cannot legally hold the conference in Austin, Texas at this time.
Of course, no event can truly replace face-to-face interactions and this decision was not made lightly. We are disappointed we won’t be able to see you in person this year, and we are actively working to reformat the 2020 National Watershed and Stormwater Conference in a robust online format that will allow for wider participation during the same time that the original conference was scheduled. Please look for our announcement of a new date for the online version soon.
Next Steps:
- Please cancel your travel reservations immediately, including hotel and airfare. We do plan on a future event at the hotel, but they are not able to transfer hotel reservations to a later date.
- If you are a presenter and your abstract has been accepted, please know that we plan on delivering the technical content in a new format with agenda modifications.
Our team is available to respond to any questions and those can be directed to Karen Titus (email kmt@cwp.org); however, we will be sending additional information in the next few days, including FAQs on the postponement, reimbursement, etc. We know that many of you are making travel plans and thus wanted to get the notice of postponement out as soon as possible. Please check our website for updates.
Thank you for your understanding in this rapidly evolving situation. The health and safety of all our attendees, your families, our staff and volunteers, and the community at large are of utmost importance to us.
Sincerely,
Ms. Hye Yeong Kwon, Executive Director
Center for Watershed Protection, Inc.
Conference Registration
Conference Dates: April 14 – April 16, 2020
Location: Online via Zoom Rooms
The Center for Watershed Protection’s 2020 National Watershed and Stormwater Conference will be held April 14 – April 16, 2020.
For the past four years, our annual conference has served as an important forum for watershed and stormwater professionals to learn about innovative restoration approaches from experts, build partnerships and share best practices. This year we are forced to host the conference online due to ongoing health concerns associated with minimizing the spread of COVID-19.
To receive the best rates for conference attendance, become a CWPA member here.
The conference will provide a forum for watershed and stormwater professionals throughout the nation to learn how to increase the resiliency of our communities in response to emerging and persistent threats to our water resources — from headwaters to coasts.
Over the three day conference, participants can network with water resource managers, practitioners, researchers and regulators from all over the United States. The conference will include technical presentations, case studies, panel discussions, and focused workshops.
Professional Development
Professional Development Hours (PDHs) are available for attending the conference. The PDH is a nationally recognized measure of participation in non-credit continuing education programs that meet established criteria for increasing competency. We provide a pdf Certificate of Completion that details the amount of hours available for conference attendance.
More information on hours available will be available soon.
While our training programs are developed with IACET criteria in mind, the varying nature of certification requirements for each state means we cannot guarantee that PDH’s will be awarded. We are happy to provide documentation to help individuals obtain credit for attending our trainings, but it is up to the individual to determine if PDH’s will be awarded based on the policies of their local certifying board.
Conference Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellations must be made by phone (410-461-8323) and/or e-mail (center@cwp.org) to the registration coordinator (Chris Swann) before 4/02/20. Registrations cancelled by 4/02/20 are subject to a service fee of $350. No refunds will be given after 4/02/20, however, registrations can be transferred to another individual from the same organization ONLY IF you contact our registration coordinator to confirm the transfer before 4/08/20.
