Applied Research
CWP conducts applied research to better understand the influence of land use activities on our water resources and develop best practices to prevent and alleviate potential harm. Our unique role provides a bridge between academic research and practical implementation of strategies that really work.
CWPs strength lies in translating science into practical guidance for policymakers, scientists and other professionals. Much of this guidance is contained in CWP’s manuals, research papers and reports available for free download from the Online Watershed Library.
As national experts in stormwater and watersheds, we also identify emerging and under-developed watershed issues, and encourage policymakers, scientists and funders to direct resources and attention to them. In 2022, CWP launched the National Watershed Research Network, a collaborative that helps communities achieve clean water and healthy watersheds by funding applied research on topics determined by its members.
