The Center for Watershed Protection is once again hosting its annual Watershed and Stormwater Conference from April 29-May 2, 2019. The conference is the place to connect with water quality experts from across the country.

Here are the top five reasons why you should attend:

  1. Hot topics and networking. Learn about the latest in stormwater management, watershed and stormwater research and its applications, watershed and stream health, and decision-making tools and credit protocols. Network at evening receptions (over a beer!) with water resource managers, practitioners, researchers and regulators from all over the United States.
  2. Real-world solutions. Too many conferences leave attendees feeling like they have spent hours only discussing the issues and unclear about how to overcome them. Not ours! This conference will give practitioners, regulators, water and sewer authorities and stormwater managers a firm grasp of tangible solutions and best practices to apply based on detailed examples from case studies as well as lessons learned from past approaches.
  3. A trip to Charleston. This year we are excited to host the conference in historic Charleston, South Carolina — a new location for the conference that is sure to attract a diverse set of attendees from the region as well as participants from across the country. Charleston is charming with a great foodie scene, waterfront parks, quiet beaches and tons of history!
  4. Preconference workshops. Want to learn about collecting field data on the fly with your Smartphone? Or creating ecologically functional, resilient, and cost-efficient projects? Or perhaps you are interested in the latest research on how urban trees affect runoff and pollutant loads? Come to one of our preconference workshops on April 29 AND earn Professional Development Hours!
  5. Field trips. Did someone say field trip?! Explore Charleston and its natural areas by bus, foot, boat or kayak at one of our exciting full-day or half-day field trips on May 1! Take a tour of the Francis Marion Forest, a visit to the Angel Oak Tree, or a kayaking trip on Shem Creek. We’ve got something for everyone!
